Princess Showdown: Peach vs. Daisy – Epic Royal Rumble Battle!

Ever since Nintendo released the Gameboy hit game Super Mario Land in 1989, the debate on who the best princess is in Mushroom World has divided our world in two. Peach versus Daisy has been on the minds of all the cool people for over four decades. The gaming community has suffered enough from the agony and pain caused by this debate. But fear not, gamers, because I have taken it upon myself to dive deep into these two characters and settle, once and for all, who the best girl in the Mario series is. So grab your comfy pants and put on some lip gloss, because we’re about to get serious.

Let’s Compare…

To truly understand these characters, let’s examine what they have in common and what sets them apart, starting with their appearances. They seem to embody opposite traits. For instance, Peach has long blond hair, while Daisy has short brown hair. Peach is associated with the color pink and heart motifs, whereas Daisy is associated with yellow and flowers. However, if we look at the models used for these characters, it’s clear that they are the same. They have similar proportions and eye color. Peach has more eyelashes to appear more “feminine” and “girly,” but they could easily pass as sisters despite being princesses of different kingdoms. Some of their biggest differences lie in their personalities.

Princess Peach

Princess Toadstool, known as Peach, was first introduced in Super Mario Bros for the NES in 1985. She was the first female character in the Mario series and has since appeared the most in the franchise. Initially, Peach was portrayed as the damsel in distress, in need of being saved. She became the love interest for the main character, Mario. However, in the game Super Princess Peach released in 2005, she became her own heroine. Using colorful panels that access her emotions, Peach gained powers. She is depicted as caring and kind to her toadstool subjects, but unfortunately, she frequently gets kidnapped, which has become a running gag in the Mario games. Besides being sweet and girly, we don’t learn much else about her. So, she’s basically nice, girly, and pink – which is a whole mood in itself.

Princess Daisy

Daisy, the Princess of Sarasaland, was first introduced in Super Mario Land on the Gameboy in 1989. She became the replacement damsel in distress instead of Princess Peach. As she became more integrated into the series, she was established as the love interest of Luigi, Mario’s brother. Other than the physical differences mentioned earlier, her personality is similar to Peach’s. She’s a nice and sweet girl but with a tomboyish side. Like Peach, she also has a tendency to get kidnapped, although not as frequently. This might be because Bowser primarily targets Mario rather than Luigi. So, the plumber boys have similar types of adventures.

Powers and Abilities

Honestly, both princesses have more similarities than differences when it comes to their powers and abilities. This presents a dilemma – how can we determine the better princess if they are practically the same character? But fear not, princesses and plumber boys, we have a solution – Super Smash Bros Ultimate. This foolproof method will surely tell us the best princess once and for all. Daisy and Peach have similar stats in the game, with occasional variations in strength and speed. But in terms of fighting style, they are identical. So, let’s use this game as the ultimate test for these two.

What Can Peach Do?

Peach has the ability to double jump, slap her opponents, and use her parasol to float. She can also summon peaches to self-heal as her ultimate move. In various Mario games, she showcases different special moves such as Heart Shot, Super Peach Spin, Heart Swing, Super Princess Peach Powers, Psych Bomb, and Royal Strike. Each move involves hearts in some way, reflecting her association with love and femininity.

What Can Daisy Do?

Daisy shares many similar attacks with Peach, with slight variations in motifs. In Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour, Daisy is even stated to be stronger than Peach. She has the highest stamina stat in Mario Golf: Super Rush. Daisy’s special moves include Torpedo Strike, Flower Spiral, Wonder Flower, and Flowerbed Return. These moves incorporate flowers and demonstrate her athletic abilities.

The Battle of the Tiara

To determine the better princess, I pitted Daisy and Peach CPUs against each other in Super Smash Bros Ultimate. By removing all items except the super ball, we ensured a fair fight. Each battle lasted a minute and thirty seconds to speed up the process and prevent frequent power-up use. All battles took place on Princess Peach’s Castle stage for consistency. After running a total of ten games, the results were… [rest of the content – not available]
