Square Enix Teases Xbox Fans with Confirmed Exclusivity Window for FF7 Rebirth
After years of anticipation, Xbox fans of the Final Fantasy series might finally have something to celebrate. Square Enix’s recent announcement during the PlayStation State of Play event for September 2023 has revealed a confirmed exclusivity window for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the highly-anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
While Xbox fans have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Final Fantasy games on their preferred console, previous exclusivity deals have hindered their hopes. However, this time around, there is a glimmer of hope that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will make its way to Xbox consoles.
The exclusivity window for the game is reportedly just three months, meaning Xbox players could potentially start playing Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth as early as May 29th, 2024. However, it’s important to note that an exclusivity window does not guarantee an Xbox release, as it could also refer to a PC version.
The exclusive deal for Final Fantasy 7 Remake expired in April 2021, yet it has not made its way to Xbox consoles. Fans were also disappointed when Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, an enhanced version of the game, was only released as a timed exclusive on the PlayStation 5.
However, there is reason to hope this time around. Square Enix has recently mended its relationship with Xbox and announced plans to bring more games, including the critically acclaimed Final Fantasy 14, to Microsoft’s consoles in the future. This renewed partnership increases the likelihood of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and other related titles coming to Xbox in 2024.
Xbox fans have been patiently waiting to experience the modern Final Fantasy 7 titles on the Xbox Series X|S, and with this new development, their hopes may finally be realized. While it is advisable not to get too carried away, the prospect of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and other Final Fantasy 7 games arriving on Xbox consoles is an exciting possibility.
