Black Myth: Wukong – New Gameplay Video Revealed at gamescom 2023
If you can’t seem to get enough of Black Myth: Wukong, we’re happy to report we’ve got a brand-new 19-minute video of the game in action that’s filled with boss battles, inventive enemies, intense action, and much more.
This footage is from a gameplay session we had at gamescom 2023, and we came away very impressed and proudly proclaimed this slice of the game felt as good as it looks.
A Promising Presence at gamescom 2023
Black Myth: Wukong had a big presence at gamescom 2023 and beyond, as it got a brand-new trailer during Opening Night Live. And that followed our hands-on preview from just before gamescom, meaning developer Game Science must feel good about where the game is at as it has been in the spotlight a lot this month.
Excitement Builds for Black Myth: Wukong
In our Black Myth: Wukong hands-on preview at gamescom, we said, “It’s shaping up to be one of the most exciting action RPGs of the soulslike era, one with its own fresh approach to challenge, pace, and abilities.”
“What remains to be seen is how developer Game Science has approached wider RPG systems, such as character development and leveling up. Should that, plus the level design of further chapters, match up to the quality bar of the bosses we’ve seen, then Black Myth: Wukong will be the success everyone is hoping for.”
The Legend of the Monkey King Comes alive
Black Myth: Wukong has a release window of summer 2024 and was first announced in February 2020. The game is based on the Chinese folklore that was established in the 16th century novel Journey to the West and is a retelling of the legend of the Monkey King. Oh, and that story will be told in Unreal Engine 5.
