New Expansion for Age of Empires IV – The Sultans Ascend – Arriving November 14!

Just a few weeks ago at Gamescom we announced that an expansion for Age of Empires IV The Sultans Ascend – would be coming soon. Today we’re thrilled to let our PC and Xbox console players around the world know that they’ll be able to play this exciting new content on November 14! Pre-orders are available now for everyone wanting to graduate The Sultans Ascend from their wishlist and begin counting down the days.

What’s Included in The Sultans Ascend:

  • New 8-mission campaign
  • 2 new civilizations: Japanese & Byzantines
  • 4 new variant civilizations
  • 10 new maps
  • 2 new biomes
  • New unlockable rewards

This highly anticipated expansion introduces a brand-new single-player campaign set in the Middle East during the European Crusades. Players will take on the role of the Muslim resistance, fighting against the invading Crusaders. The campaign explores the struggles of well-known Muslim leaders against the Crusaders and their conquests. It begins with the First Crusade at the end of the 11th century, where Muslim provinces are divided, allowing the Crusaders to take advantage and capture major cities, including Jerusalem. Players will battle against the Holy Orders of the Templars, Hospitallers, and Teutons, as well as their old foes, the Mongols. Notably, this campaign marks the first time naval gameplay is featured in Age of Empires IV. With new heroes, abilities, and mechanics, players can engage in both land and sea battles.

In addition to the new campaign, players have the option to control two powerful new civilizations: the Japanese and the Byzantines. Each civilization brings its own unique landmarks, special units, and strategies. The Japanese civilization focuses on the age of the Samurai, with special Shinobi units for espionage and assassination. On the other hand, the Byzantines civilization centers around the Eastern Roman Empire, known for its longevity. Players can construct aqueducts and cisterns, harvest a new resource, and even hire mercenaries. These civilizations offer exciting gameplay and enable players to explore different historical periods and strategies.

Diversity and variety are key in The Sultans Ascend. The expansion includes ten meticulously designed maps, each offering a unique strategic layout and terrain. Players must adapt their tactics to conquer diverse environments and emerge victorious. Additionally, two new biomes have been introduced: Japanese Spring and Savanna, further expanding the range of environments players can explore.
