Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge Success Sparks Interest in Sequels and Other Franchises

The highly acclaimed game Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge has achieved massive success for developer Tribute Games. The game’s narrative designer, Yannic Belzil, recently discussed the game’s triumphs and the potential for future projects.

Will there be more TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge DLC?

In a recent interview with the Xbox Expansion Pass, Yannic Belzil expressed his enthusiasm for the possibility of creating more content for Shredder’s Revenge. Belzil revealed that he has a list of characters he would love to incorporate into future DLC or a sequel.

“Me personally, I would love to do more of it,” said Belzil. “I have a list of characters I wish we could make playable. I could not wait to see our artists create and animate the [idle animations of characters]. I would love it. But we are a whole team, it’s not just up to me. So, we’ll see what happens.”

Future Possibilities for Tribute Games

Belzil also shared that the success of Shredder’s Revenge has attracted interest from other companies who are interested in creating similar games for their own franchises. While Belzil expressed his interest, he also noted the challenge of replicating the team’s passion for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Belzil said, “The game has made it that there’s been interest that some people have knocked on our door. ‘Will you do a Shredder’s Revenge for our characters, or our franchise?’ And depending on the characters or the franchise, that could be really, really interesting. But, that’s still all up in the air, we’ll see what happens.

“I would love to do it and I feel like a lot of us are stoked to do it, but again, we’ll see what makes sense for us, as a company. We’re a small studio, and one thing we’ve always done is move in the same direction at the same time because we’re not a super large company. So, we’ll see what makes sense for us. If it’s more Turtles, I would love it. If it’s something else, hopefully, it’s exciting so we’ll see.”

Game Updates and Inspiration for Other Titles

Since its release in June 2022, Shredder’s Revenge has received positive reviews and has garnered a dedicated fanbase. The game has already inspired other developers, as evidenced by the announcement of Freedom Games’ G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra, which shares similarities with Tribute Games’ turtle-powered title.

Key Updates and Expansion

Shredder’s Revenge has seen a few updates since its launch, including a recent paid expansion. The expansion introduced a wave-based roguelite survival mode, additional skins, and two new playable characters.

Success Breeds Interest

The success of Shredder’s Revenge, which sold over a million copies in its first week, has piqued the interest of other companies. They have approached Tribute Games with proposals to create similar beat ’em up games for their own beloved franchises.

As Tribute Games continues to navigate the possibilities for future projects, fans eagerly await news of potential sequels, DLC, and collaborations with other franchises.
