Puzzling Places Receives ‘Big Update’ with Multiplayer and Hand Tracking Support
Puzzling Places, the popular virtual reality (VR) puzzle game, has announced its highly anticipated ‘Big Update’ just in time for the launch of Quest 3. This update brings a range of exciting new features and enhancements, including multiplayer capabilities and hand tracking support.

The Big Update introduces two-player online multiplayer, allowing players to team up with friends or other players around the world to solve puzzles together. This multiplayer feature enhances the social aspect of the game and adds a new level of excitement and collaboration to the puzzle-solving experience.
But that’s not all. Quest users will also get to enjoy a unique local mixed-reality multiplayer mode, which combines passthrough support with Meta’s Shared Spatial Anchors technology. This innovative feature allows players to see and interact with each other’s avatars in the real world while playing the game, creating a truly immersive and interactive multiplayer experience.
Hand Tracking Support
The Big Update also introduces hand tracking support to Puzzling Places. Players can now use their hands to manipulate and interact with puzzle pieces, making the gameplay even more intuitive and immersive. An in-game tutorial is available to guide players on how to use hand tracking effectively.
In addition, Quest Pro users can take advantage of eye tracking technology for selecting puzzle pieces, similar to the functionality available on the PSVR 2 edition. This feature enhances precision and speed, allowing players to complete puzzles more efficiently.
Visual Enhancements on Quest 3
For Quest 3 users, Puzzling Places now runs at a higher rendering resolution and includes 4x MSAA anti-aliasing. A new rendering mode offers a ‘Quality vs. Performance’ setting, giving players the option to prioritize either higher frame rates or higher visual fidelity according to their preference. Realities.io, the developer behind Puzzling Places, assures players that both higher rendering and frame rates are maintained in most scenarios, with more demanding modes using MR (mixed reality) or larger puzzle sizes adjusting accordingly.
New French Chateaus DLC Pack
The ‘Big Update’ also introduces the highly anticipated French Chateaus DLC pack. This pack offers 1000-piece puzzles for the first time on Quest, providing an even greater challenge for puzzle enthusiasts. However, it is important to note that due to performance limitations, Quest 1 players will have a limit of 400 pieces for the French Chateaus puzzles.
Puzzling Places is available now on all major VR platforms. While the ‘Big Update’ is currently exclusive to Quest, the developer has confirmed that online multiplayer support will be coming to Pico and PSVR 2 at a later date, ensuring players across various platforms can enjoy the multiplayer experience.
