Espire 1 Convergence Update Brings PC VR and Quest Versions to Parity

Espire 1: VR Operative Receives PC VR Update, Bringing Parity with Quest

In an exciting development for virtual reality (VR) gamers, Espire 1: VR Operative has received a major update for PC VR platforms, bringing it almost on par with its Quest counterpart. Developed by Digital Lode, Espire 1: VR Operative was released in 2019 and received a sequel, Espire 2, last year. However, Digital Lode has not forgotten about the original game and has now rolled out the Convergence Update, which includes the previously Quest-exclusive 1.7, 1.8, and 1.9 updates to Steam and Rift platforms. The update introduces new challenges, weapons, environments, UI changes, and support for newer VR headsets.

Despite coming close to complete feature parity, the Convergence Update does not fully bridge the gap between the PC VR and Quest versions of Espire 1. According to a press release, some challenges exclusive to the Quest platform will remain inaccessible on PC. The studio explains that the Quest-exclusive “Oculus Challenges” feature cannot be supported on PC.

Addressing the delay in updates for both platforms, Digital Lode issued an apology, stating that the team faced difficulties due to a major Unreal Engine upgrade that broke many aspects of Espire 1. The studio struggled to allocate the necessary time and resources to address the issues in the PC version of the game but assures players that a dedicated team has been working on this update in short bursts.

Espire 1: VR Operative is now available for the Meta Quest platform, Steam, Rift, and PSVR for $19.99.

Conclusion

The Convergence Update for Espire 1: VR Operative is a significant step towards achieving feature parity between the PC and Quest versions. While certain challenges will remain exclusive to the Quest platform, PC VR players can now enjoy new content and improvements brought by the update. Digital Lode’s dedication to addressing issues and delivering updates demonstrates its commitment to enhancing the gaming experience for VR enthusiasts.

As the virtual reality gaming industry continues to evolve, updates like the Convergence Update for Espire 1: VR Operative highlight the increasing importance of providing equal experiences across different VR platforms. With VR technology advancing rapidly, it’s an exciting time for VR gamers as they can look forward to more immersive and engaging experiences across various platforms in the future.
