If there is one thing that any FromSoftware game is going to do, it is leave gamers with questions. *Armored Core 6* is no exception to this rule. If anything, it being a game that has one foot in the past and another in the present only serves to make it all the more mysterious.

## Is Armored Core 6 Just Dark Souls With Mechs?

Absolutely not. While fans will tell you all the reasons why *Bloodborne* and *Sekiro* are definitely not just reskinned Souls games, the truth is that there is a lot of shared DNA there. However, the degrees of separation between *Armored Core 6* and the *Souls* series are far more pronounced.

It would be erroneous to imply that the *Souls* series had no influence on *Armored Core 6*. In fact, there are some pretty notable *Soulsian* elements present. But first and foremost this is an *Armored Core* game. From the way the levels have been designed to the way you traverse them to the core components of combat, there is a substantial amount separating *Armored Core 6* from the other modern FromSoftware titles.

## Is Armored Core 6 As Hard As A Souls Game?

While *Armored Core 6* is most certainly a very tough game, it has a completely different approach to difficulty. For starters, there are checkpoints here. Which means that if a boss kills you, you can retry that fight immediately afterward. In fact, you can even adjust your AC’s design at a checkpoint. This allows you to adapt, which is a big part of how you are supposed to play *Armored Core 6*.

At first, you may think that *Armored Core 6* is too hard, but once you start to understand how to adjust and reconfigure your AC to best fight different enemies, you will find that *Armored Core 6* is, in a number of ways, can be surprisingly lenient.

## Is Armored Core 6 An Open World Game?

*Armored Core 6* is absolutely not an open world style game. Unlike *Elden Ring* (or even *Dark Souls*, for that matter), *Armored Core 6’s Rubicon 3 will be explored via missions. Each mission will take you to a different stage. While these stages are quite large, with some being particularly massive, and while all the stages have a tremendous sense of scale, each stage will have a set beginning and ending. Though, the bit in between the start and end allows you to explore each area quite a bit, and as the game progresses you will be rewarded for exploring. So, if you love exploring, worry not, you can do that here too.

## Do I Need To Play The Previous Armored Core Games?

Worry not, friends, you will not have to break out the PS2 in order to start your *Armored Core* adventure. While *Armored Core 6* is set in the same universe, it is a wholly fresh story. So, you don’t have to worry about getting lost in the narrative.

On a gameplay level, *Armored Core 6* does a great job of showing you the ropes. We wager that *Armored Core 6* will be many people’s first *Armored Core* game, and we’re pretty sure the developers knew this as well. There are elements that clearly reference the previous games in the series, but *Armored Core 6* is absolutely a welcoming game for newcomers. We’d even go as far as to say that *AC6* is the best *Armored Core* to start with!

## Does *Armored Core 6* Have Multiplayer?

Yes! Upon completing the “Ocean Crossing” mission in the second chapter of *Armored Core 6*, you will unlock the NEST mode. This will allow you to face off against other players and see how you perform against other humans.

## How Fast Does Your Mech Move In *Armored Core 6*?

As is the standard for the series, you will be zipping around the massive stages in *Armored Core 6*. Even the slowest ACs in *Armored Core 6 move pretty quickly, and the fastest builds are blindingly fast. Speed is a major factor you need to take into consideration when building your AC. However, the faster your AC is, the more vulnerable it will be. If you are looking for a parallel, the mechs in *Armored Core 6 move at the speed of a Zone of the Enders mech, not a Mech Warrior mech.
