Certain AAA Games May Soon Be Playable on Apple’s Vision Pro

AAA Games Coming to iPhone 15 Pro and High-End iPads

In a recent announcement during Apple’s September event livestream, the company revealed that several AAA games will be ported to the new iPhone 15 Pro and high-end iPads. This means that these popular titles, such as Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Death Stranding, Resident Evil Village, and Resident Evil 4 Remake, which were previously only available on consoles and PC, will now be playable on these Apple devices.

What makes this announcement even more exciting is that Apple has stated that “nearly all” iPad and iPhone apps will be available on the App Store on Vision Pro, a virtual screen feature, right from the start. While there may be exceptions for apps that require certain features not present in visionOS, such as raw accelerometer access, custom peripheral drivers, raw GPS, NFC, and SMS, these games are unlikely to be affected by these limitations.

During previous confirmations, Apple has also revealed that Vision Pro supports gamepad pairing via Bluetooth to play iPad games on a virtual screen. The company even showcased NBA 2K23 as an example during one of its presentations. Considering that the new iPad models feature the powerful M2 chipset, it’s highly probable that the newly announced major titles will also be playable in Vision Pro.

However, it’s important to note that while games like Resident Evil Village and No Man’s Sky have immersive VR support on PlayStation VR2, running these games in VR is much more demanding than running them in 2D. The M2 chip, although impressive, is still not as powerful as a PlayStation 5. Additionally, Vision Pro does not support tracked controllers, although developers may have the ability to implement gamepad input for VR, similar to what was done for the original PlayStation VR and Oculus Rift.

While there was no direct confirmation of VR support for these games during the livestream, it’s safe to say that the prospects of playing them in virtual reality on Apple devices are plausible and exciting.

Overall, this announcement showcases Apple’s commitment to bringing high-quality gaming experiences to its users. With the porting of AAA games to the iPhone 15 Pro and high-end iPads, gamers can enjoy their favorite titles on the go or in the comfort of their own homes, further solidifying Apple’s position in the gaming industry.
