Nintendo Offers Free In-Game Items in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Nintendo has announced that players of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom can now claim free in-game item drops through the Switch news channel. These items will help players navigate through dark areas in the game.
What are the new items?
The latest in-game item giveaway includes three glowing cave fish and two brightcaps. When cooked together, these items will provide illumination to Link in areas where there is no light.
How to redeem the items?
- Select the ‘News’ icon on the Switch Home Menu.
- Scroll to the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom news story titled “Lost in the dark? Time for your cooking to shine!”
- Click ‘Play Now’ within the news article.
- Boot up Zelda and load your game file.
- Receive Glowing Cave Fish x 3 and Brightcap x 2.
Nintendo has provided a detailed explanation of how cooking can help players find their way in dark areas of the game. By cooking the glowing cave fish and brightcaps found in caves throughout Hyrule, players can create a meal that causes Link to glow. Although the effect is temporary and does not illuminate an entire cave, it provides enough light to help players navigate.
To encourage players to try out this new feature, Nintendo is offering free ingredients to kickstart their culinary experiments. By cooking the provided items together, players can create a Fish and Mushroom Skewer with a glow effect. This meal can be consumed when stuck in a dark area to provide temporary illumination.
