# Minecraft Live 2023: Community Votes for New Mob
The highly anticipated annual Minecraft event, “Minecraft Live,” is set to return on October 15th. This year, players will have the opportunity to vote for a new mob to be added to the game. The catch? There are three mobs to choose from, but only one will make it into the game. The winner will be determined by the amount of community votes each mob receives.
The three mobs up for consideration this year are the Crab, Armadillo, and Penguin. Each mob brings unique abilities and characteristics to the game. Let’s take a closer look at each one:
## Crab
The Crab is a fascinating creature that calls the mangrove swamp biome its home. With its gigantic claw, the Crab likes to wave it around as it scuttles through the swamp. This claw is not only impressive but also functional. If a player manages to find one, they can use it to place blocks further away, making building and exploring even more exciting. The Crab is an essential part of the mangrove swamp ecosystem and can often be found hiding between the vines of this mud-tastic biome.
## Armadillo
The Armadillo is a desert-dwelling mob that can be found in the savannah biome. This creature plods serenely between the long grass, but don’t be fooled by its calm demeanor. If startled, the Armadillo can roll into a blocky ball, which is as adorable as it sounds. Additionally, the Armadillo drops a special scute that players can use to craft Wolf armor. This new armor will provide extra defense for players and their loyal wolf companions, perfect for those unexpected encounters with skeletons after nightfall.
## Penguin
The Penguin, a social and amphibious mob, can be found in the stony shores biome. Whether waddling around the beach or swimming in the nearby ocean, the Penguin is a delightful addition to the game. This mob is known for its clumsiness on land but makes up for it with its impressive swimming skills. The Penguin has a special ability to help boats travel faster, making it a valuable companion for players exploring vast bodies of water.
The mob vote will open on October 13th and will be available until October 15th. The winner will be announced at this year’s Minecraft Live event. Players can cast their votes on Minecraft.net or through the game launcher. For those with access to the Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, in-game voting is also an option.
Last year, “The Sniffer” won the mob vote, and players can learn more about it in our previous post. In addition to the mob vote, Minecraft Live 2023 will feature exciting news about Minecraft and updates for Minecraft Legends.
Which mob will you choose? Let us know in the comments.
