The Gran Turismo Sport Servers Will Close in January 2024 to Focus on Gran Turismo 7 Online Services
The Gran Turismo Sport Server Closure Date
Polyphony Digital has officially announced that the Gran Turismo Sport servers will be shut down on January 31, 2024, at 06:00 UTC. This decision has been made to allow the team to focus on improving the online services for the highly anticipated Gran Turismo 7.
After the server closure, players will no longer have access to any of Gran Turismo Sport’s online features. This includes the Community, Open Lobby, Sport Mode, and custom liveries for cars, helmets, and racing suits. For a comprehensive list of features that will be unavailable after January 31, visit the official website.
Features that will no longer be available:
- Online Services: The Community, Open Lobby, Quick Match, and Seasonal Events will be disabled.
- Mileage Store Closure: Purchasing items from the Mileage Store will no longer be possible.
- Trophies: Some Trophies that require an online connection will become inaccessible.
- Garage Car Liveries: Custom liveries will not be accessible, and all vehicles with applied liveries will revert to their original color.
It’s important to note that all of the game’s offline features will still be playable even after the server closure. This includes the career mode, all existing cars, personalized Car Settings in the Garage, and world circuits.
Purchasing Gran Turismo Sport DLC Add-ons
For those who are still playing Gran Turismo Sport and wish to expand their experience, they can still purchase DLC add-ons for the game. However, it’s crucial to be aware that starting from December 1, 2023, all purchasable Gran Turismo Sport DLC add-ons will be removed from the PlayStation Store. This includes Vehicles, the Scapes Content Pack, and the Lewis Hamilton Time Trial Challenge. It’s worth noting that any DLC add-ons purchased prior to December 1 will remain playable. Therefore, players are encouraged to secure their desired add-ons before the removal date.
Transition to Gran Turismo 7
Although the closure of the Gran Turismo Sport servers may be disappointing, there is good news for players who are planning to move on to Gran Turismo 7. Polyphony Digital has ensured that several essential aspects from Gran Turismo Sport will carry over to the new game. This includes the Driver Rating (DR), Sportsmanship Rating (SR), Car Liveries, Helmet Designs, and Racing Suit Designs. Players can seamlessly continue their progress and personalized aesthetics in the highly anticipated Gran Turismo 7.
As the release of Gran Turismo 7 edges closer, Polyphony Digital has made the decision to close the Gran Turismo Sport servers on January 31, 2024. This move will allow the development team to concentrate on enhancing the online services for the upcoming game. Players are advised to enjoy the game’s remaining online features while they still can and secure any desired DLC add-ons before they are removed from the PlayStation Store. With the transition to Gran Turismo 7, important progress and customization elements will be carried over, ensuring a seamless experience for dedicated fans of the franchise.
