Launch Week Sales of Sea Of Stars Exceed First Year Projections

Retro-Inspired RPG Sea of Stars Surpasses Sales Milestone in First Week

The highly anticipated retro-inspired RPG, Sea of Stars, has achieved an impressive sales milestone just one week after its release on multiple platforms including the Nintendo Switch. Sabotage, the developer of the game, announced on social media that Sea of Stars has already sold over 250,000 copies in its launch week, surpassing the initial projections for the first year of sales.

This latest sales update includes all platforms, with Sea of Stars being available not only on the Nintendo Switch but also on the PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. The game’s availability on Xbox’s Game Pass service has likely contributed to its success, attracting even more players.

For those who haven’t had the chance to experience Sea of Stars yet, a demo is available for download on the Switch eShop. In our own review here on Nintendo Life, we gave the game an “excellent” score, describing it as an instant classic. The positive reception extends to our sibling sites, Push Square and Pure Xbox, who are also big fans of the game.

“There are few games that would be a better introduction and representation of what makes JRPGs great. Sea of Stars is an instant classic and a new high-water mark for modern retro-styled indies. You really shouldn’t miss out.”

Excitingly, Sabotage has also announced that they are currently developing free DLC for Sea of Stars. There are speculations that this DLC might be linked to Sabotage’s other game, The Messenger, which is set within the same universe.
