Director Explains Why Little Nightmares III Will Not Feature Couch Co-op

Little Nightmares III Won’t Include Couch Co-op, Game Director Explains Decision

Little Nightmares III couch co-op

It has been confirmed that the highly anticipated game Little Nightmares III will not feature couch co-op, disappointing many fans. Supermassive’s game director, Wayne Garland, recently shed light on the decision in an interview with GamesRadar.

The First Co-op Experience in the Series

For the first time in the Little Nightmares series, co-op gameplay will be supported. However, to the dismay of fans, this feature will be limited to online play. Local couch co-op will not be available, leaving those who prefer playing with friends in the same room out of luck.

Garland explained the reasoning behind this decision, stating, “We’ve been asked questions about online versus couch co-op. Couch is something that we considered, but again, when you come back to the atmosphere and the immersion that we’re trying to elicit through Little Nightmares, I think it was important for us that we stuck to our online co-op only rather than traditional more party aspects.”

AI for Single-Player Experience

Although couch co-op won’t be an option, Little Nightmares III will include AI support for single-player mode. This means players can still enjoy the entire game alone, with AI-controlled characters providing assistance and interaction throughout the haunting adventure.

Release Date and Platforms

Little Nightmares III is scheduled to launch on the Nintendo Switch in 2024. The game is highly anticipated by fans of the series, who have been eagerly awaiting the next installment in this atmospheric and immersive franchise.
