The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Fan Art Depicts Guardian Enemies in Zonai Constructs Style
A fan of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has created stunning artwork featuring the game’s Guardian enemies in the style of Zonai Constructs. While Guardians were absent from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, they were a formidable and fearsome adversary in the previous installment, Breath of the Wild.
In both Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild, players faced challenging enemies that added to the games’ high difficulty level. While the former introduced Gleeoks and Gloom Hands as formidable foes, the latter featured the iconic Guardians. These stone-faced spider-like robots were known for their ability to detect Link from a surprising distance, unleash powerful laser attacks, and move with deceptive speed. Players often found themselves on the edge of their seats as they battled these terrifying enemies. The eerie piano jingle that played when Guardians appeared only intensified the sense of danger. However, players could defeat them using Ancient Arrows, the Master Sword, or by reflecting their lasers back at them.
Despite the absence of Guardians in Tears of the Kingdom, one Reddit user named Altoost decided to pay homage to these memorable enemies by creating fan art that reimagines them in the style of Tears of the Kingdom‘s Zonai Constructs. The artist drew inspiration from the benevolent Constructs found on the Great Sky Island, who provide Link with valuable gameplay advice, enhance the battery life of vehicles and devices, and offer Zonai Charges and blueprints. If these Guardians had been included in the game, they would have likely posed as formidable mini-bosses.
The fan art received widespread praise in the comments section, with many commending the artist for seamlessly blending the design of the Guardians with the aesthetic of the Zonai Constructs. Some speculated on how these new Guardians would have compared to their predecessors in terms of difficulty and terror. Others expressed their disappointment at the absence of Guardians in Tears of the Kingdom and hoped for a potential DLC appearance. A few even suggested incorporating elements of the Gloom enemy to make the design even more intimidating.
While game companies cannot accept unsolicited fan ideas for legal reasons, it is worth noting that Tears of the Kingdom may receive DLC in the future. Given the game’s close ties to Breath of the Wild, there is a possibility that Guardians may make a reference or cameo appearance. Only time will tell if fans will get to face these formidable foes once again.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is currently available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
