New policy for storing game captures, plus a new easy way to back them up
Microsoft has announced a new policy regarding the retention of game captures on the Xbox network. Starting today, game captures stored on the Xbox network will be automatically deleted after 90 days. This change aims to optimize the storage capacity and ensure that users’ captures remain up-to-date and relevant.
To address the concern of users who wish to keep their game captures indefinitely, Microsoft has provided a solution. In their recent blog post, the company highlights the steps users can take to back up their clips and screenshots. By following the instructions outlined in the ‘Back up your clips article,’ users can safely preserve their favorite captures.
In addition to the new retention policy, Microsoft has introduced a simplified experience for backing up game captures. Users can now easily back up all their captures to either OneDrive or an external storage device of their choice. This enhancement aims to provide users with flexibility and convenience when managing their captured gaming moments.
To facilitate the backup process, Microsoft has integrated new features on their Xbox console. Users can now move, manage, and bulk upload their captures by following these steps: press the Xbox button, go to My games & apps, select Captures, and click on the “Tell me more” button to get started. Furthermore, users can configure their console to automatically back up future captures to OneDrive, ensuring that no important moments are missed.
Create and Share with Microsoft Clipchamp
Microsoft has also introduced a built-in video editor called Microsoft Clipchamp. This powerful video editor allows users to enhance and personalize their game captures saved to OneDrive. With Clipchamp, users can trim, crop, add text, transitions, and other effects to create captivating videos of their epic gaming moments.
