Xbox Update Preview Arrives for Omega Ring Insiders
Xbox Insiders in the Omega ring can rejoice as a new Xbox Update Preview has been announced. While some may argue that the changes to the user interface are minimal, the update brings important background improvements that guarantee a quality and stable build for Xbox consoles. To keep you informed about the upcoming updates for your device, we’ve compiled all the details below.
System Update Details:
– OS version released: XB_FLT_2309ZN\25398.2255.230917-2200
– Available: 4 p.m. PT – September 19, 2023
– Mandatory: 4 p.m. PT – September 20, 2023
It’s worth noting that this update might not occur automatically before it becomes mandatory. However, you can easily find the most current update by opening the Guide > Profile & system > Settings > System > Updates.
Newly enrolled users in the Omega ring are not guaranteed to receive all early updates, but they will receive the update prior to the GA (General Availability) release. Fixes Implemented:
Thanks to the hard work of Xbox engineers, several fixes have been implemented for this build. Let’s take a look at them:
My Games & Apps:
– Fixed an issue where some installed titles could display as not installed when viewing the Manage page.
System:
– Various stability and performance fixes.
Known Issues:
While some issues have been listed in previous Xbox Insider Release Notes, the Xbox engineers are actively working to find solutions. Here are a few known issues:
Audio:
– Intermittent issues with audio across the dashboard, games, and apps have been reported. If you experience any audio problems, please submit feedback via Report a Problem immediately with the “Reproduce with advanced diagnostics” option, selecting the category “Console experiences” and “Console Audio Output Issues.” Include as much information as possible to help the engineers understand and reproduce the problem.
Keyboard Button Mapping for Xbox Controllers:
– The “Learn More” button in the Xbox Accessories app is currently not functional. Additionally, if you change your keyboard language settings while the Xbox Accessories app is open, the change will be reflected after quitting the app or rebooting your console.
Networking:
– Xbox Insiders have reported issues where the console may not connect to their network as expected on boot. If you experience this, be sure to report the issue via Report a Problem as soon as possible. A temporary workaround is to wait for a minute for the connection to establish. If the console still hasn’t connected, restart your Xbox from the Power Center by holding the Xbox button > Restart console > Restart.
Upload your Captures to OneDrive:
– If you are backing up a large collection of captures (1000+) to OneDrive, it may take a while. Please allow for a few days for everything to appear.
Make sure to utilize the Report a Problem feature to keep the Xbox team informed about any issues you encounter. While they may not be able to respond to everyone individually, the data gathered from these reports is crucial to finding resolutions.
