Microsoft has announced an upcoming Xbox Update Preview for Alpha ring insiders, focusing on background improvements and introducing exciting new features for users. While some updates may not have noticeable UI changes, they are crucial for maintaining the stability and overall quality of Xbox consoles.

System Update Details

New Features and Experiences

Microsoft is introducing a new feature called “Play From Profile” for a random subset of Alpha users. This feature will make it easier to access, play, and view details about the games others are currently playing. Additionally, join and invite commands on these profile pages will be reorganized for enhanced usability.

Fixes Implemented

The Xbox engineering team has diligently worked on addressing various issues and has implemented the following fixes:

Accessibility

• Fixes to address an issue where the Magnifier would not behave as expected in certain titles.

Manage Queue

• Fixed an issue where recently installed titles could unintentionally wrap to a second row.

System

Known Issues

While some issues listed in previous Xbox Insider Release Notes are still being addressed, Microsoft is actively working on finding a resolution. The ongoing issues include:

Audio

• Intermittent audio issues across the dashboard, games, and apps have been reported. Users experiencing such issues are encouraged to provide feedback via “Report a Problem” with the “Reproduce with advanced diagnostics” option, selecting the category “Console Experiences” and “Console Audio Output Issues.” Microsoft recommends providing detailed information to assist with troubleshooting, such as the occurrence time, affected audio (game/app or system), changes in audio format, and system setup details.

Keyboard Button Mapping for Xbox Controllers

• Changing the keyboard language settings while the Xbox Accessories app is open will reflect the changes after quitting the app or rebooting the console.

Manage Queue

• When the queue is empty, the outline around “When games and apps are installing, you’ll see them here” may extend off-screen. Microsoft is actively working on a fix for this issue.

Networking

• There have been reports of unexpected network connection issues during boot. Users experiencing this issue are advised to report it via “Report a Problem” as soon as possible. A temporary workaround is to wait for a minute to establish the connection. If the console still doesn’t connect, it is recommended to restart the Xbox from the Power Center by holding the Xbox button and selecting “Restart console” > “Restart.”

Xbox Insiders are encouraged to use “Report a Problem” to provide detailed information about any other issues they encounter. The data collected through this feedback is crucial for Microsoft to understand and resolve user issues more effectively.
