PvP Spin-Off Game “Demeo Battles” Confirms November Launch on Quest & SteamVR

Demeo Battles, the PvP Spin-Off of Demeo, Set for Release on November 9

Resolution Games, the developer behind the popular tabletop co-operative dungeon crawler, Demeo, has announced that its PvP spin-off, Demeo Battles, will be released on November 9. Demeo Battles takes the same turn-based tactics, art style, champions, monsters, and more from the original game and adapts them into a new competitive format with a few key changes.

Gameplay and Features

Demeo Battles switches out the original game’s co-op gameplay for shorter matches consisting of 1v1 or 2v2 player-vs-player (PvP) action. Players will be able to choose from a cast of seven classes of champions to play as during each match. In a 1v1 match, each player selects two champions, while 2v2 matches require teams of two to select a champion each and work together to defeat the opposing team.

In Demeo Battles, players also have the option to select a roster of ability-based cards and Demeo monsters before each round, adding another layer of strategy to the gameplay. The matches take place on 10 new maps specifically designed for PvP play.

One of the new mechanics introduced in Demeo Battles is called “The Burn.” This mechanic creates an ever-encroaching flood of lava that starts on the edges of the game board and moves towards the center. The Burn forces players into close quarters, intensifying the action as the round progresses.

Demeo Battles will be available on Quest headsets and PC VR platforms, with full mixed reality support on Quest at launch. On PC, the game will support both VR and non-VR modes, allowing players to switch between flatscreen and PC VR play.

Release Date and Additional Content

Demeo Battles is set to launch on November 9. In anticipation of the release, Resolution Games has shared a full match playthrough featuring Jerry Holkins (Tycho) and Mike Krahulik (Gabe) from Penny Arcade. Although the gameplay footage showcased the flatscreen PC version of Battles, it provided a comprehensive look at the gameplay mechanics and overall experience.

The game is currently available for wishlist on Steam and pre-order on Quest. A demo of the PC release will also be available on October 9 as part of Steam Next Fest next month. In related news, Resolution Games recently announced that Demeo is also in development for Apple Vision Pro.

With its PvP spin-off, Demeo Battles, Resolution Games aims to provide players with a new competitive experience while retaining the beloved elements of the original co-operative dungeon crawler. The game’s strategic turn-based gameplay, variety of champions and monsters, and the introduction of the new mechanic “The Burn” promise to deliver exciting and immersive PvP battles.
