Nitara will mark Megan Fox’s return to a vampiric character
Nitara, the winged fighter from Mortal Kombat 1, has been officially confirmed as part of the game’s main cast by NetherRealm Studios. The studio also released a trailer featuring actor Megan Fox portraying the character.
Megan Fox’s Excitement and Inspiration
In the reveal trailer, Megan Fox expressed her enthusiasm for being part of the game and highlighted the challenges she faced while playing the role. She mentioned that the character required her to tap into parts of herself that made her uncomfortable. Moreover, Fox praised Mortal Kombat as “one of the greatest video games of all time.” This role marks Fox’s return to playing a vampiric character, which she previously did in movies like Jennifer’s Body and Night Teeth.
This is not the first time Megan Fox has shown her interest in Mortal Kombat. In May 2021, she mentioned in an interview with People that she and her partner, Machine Gun Kelly, played Mortal Kombat 11, with her boasting about “crushing him” in their matches. Fox also expressed her desire to play Kitana in a Mortal Kombat movie back in May 2016.
Gameplay Details
While the trailer only provided brief glimpses of Nitara’s gameplay, some details can be inferred about her fighting style. She appears to have more aerial utility compared to other fighters, with a dive kick and the ability to activate her Fatal Blow while in the air. It is worth mentioning that Nitara has not been playable since Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, which released during the 3D era of the series.
NetherRealm’s History of Casting Hollywood Stars
NetherRealm Studios has a history of bringing in Hollywood stars for its games. In Mortal Kombat 11, Ronda Rousey voiced the character Sonya Blade, a performance that received criticism for being wooden and lifeless.
There were rumors suggesting that Megan Fox would be part of the next Mortal Kombat game as well, but in a different role. Colin Moriarty from the Sacred Symbols podcast speculated that Fox would portray Mileena. However, this information remains unverified. Additionally, the rumor also mentioned that rapper Travis Scott would be featured in Mortal Kombat 1, but no confirmation has been made regarding his involvement.
